Third, the four aspect models constitute a truly coherent set of models, based on a common theoretical foundation (that will be explained in the book). This is rather unique. There are hardly any competing methodologies for enterprise ontology because the models produced with them are not guaranteed to be implementation independent. In addition, the aspect models in most approaches do not constitute a complete set and are not intrinsically linked to each other. For example, one may add a data model to a process model, but they cannot be linked together intrinsically because of the missing common foundation; they can only be “talked” together and that is what often happens in practice.
